Alan Urmston, MCBI

Alan is an experienced Chartered Banker with a 35-year career path at a NatWest Bank, a Top-Tier US Global Foreign Exchange, and Payments broker and latterly 7 years working with global language service providers assisting global law firms, universal banks, and world-wide corporates to improve its communication content and style in international languages. At NatWest he spent ten years in the City of London passing his Securities & Investment examinations, working on trading desks before moving into sales and product distribution, marketing and several senior FCA regulated client facing roles achieving Director level status. He hired, led, and managed high-performing sales teams, leading underperforming sales teams to award winning accolades. Alan held a seat at a sub-Board level Committee leading on client product delivery and was a trusted peer with fellow bankers and mentor to new entrants into foreign exchange and derivative markets. As a Banking Consultant he now assists businesses with their funding, over-viewing corporate governance of banking arrangements, debt re-financing and foreign exchange exposures under the current regulatory landscape. Alan’s commitment and purpose extends to academia as a Visiting Academic and Masters Dissertation Supervisor at The University of Salford Business School, where he guides students during their dissertation. He has also developed and delivered taught lectures and seminars at the Business School on its BSc undergraduate programme adding real-life experience to technical and academic learning. He is married and has two daughters; one is an Archivist in London, and the other is at Cardiff University reading Bio Sciences.
