Cathy Wood spent 10 years working as a journalist on the Daily Mail, before going freelance to cover major sporting events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games and the World Cup. Cathy’s work has appeared in countless national newspapers including; The Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, The Evening Standard, The Telegraph and The Sunday Times. She is the author of, ‘Paralympic Heroes” (Carlton 2011), the official book on the history of the Paralympic movement, commissioned for the London 2012 Games. Cathy passionately believes in mentoring young people, as they embark on work life, and that we all have powerful stories to tell which inform our decisions and inspire others. She now works as a consultant helping football players, athletes and students navigate the online world covering topics such as; the influence of social media, current scams, impersonation threats and how to understand past and present digital use. Cathy was also an elite triathlete who represented Great Britain at Ironman Triathlon (2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run) winning bronze and silver medals at successive European Ironman Championships. She continues to run, usually on trails, and has recently qualified as a listening volunteer for The Listening Place, a charity which offers face-to-face support for those who want to talk openly about suicidal feelings.
